Hurricane Irene Photos

10-16-99 - The rain was light to moderate, but driven by winds that gusted to 70mph. There were downed trees and power lines, but we did not have any power outages in our area that I know of. We did not see and tornadoes or water spouts. Our average winds were 40-50mph, and flooding to our area was minor. At the time the pictures were taken in St. Augustine, it was low tide, so I did not see or was able to photograph any tidal flooding that is so common to the downtown area during storms. The beach areas were very sparse and closed due to Hurricane Floyd's erosion, and from what I could see, Irene was causing trouble too. Sarah Jarman Forgot to tell you that our total rainfall from hurricane Irene was 3 & 1/2".
