Hurricane Bret started as TD #3 at 5 PM EDT WED AUG 18 1999, became Tropical Storm Bret at 4 PM CDT THU AUG 19 1999, and became Hurricane Bret at 10 PM CDT FRI AUG 20 1999. It reached Category 4 with winds of 135mph at 8 PM CDT SAT AUG 21 1999 and its winds reached a maximum of 140mph at 4 AM CDT SUN AUG 22 1999.
